Yoga Ericeiera Portugal

Ericeira is a small fishing village in Portugal located northwest of Lisbon, the capital city. It is known for being the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe and it still holds a traditional charm with its beautiful blue and white colored houses and lovely cobblestoned streets. It’s very easy to reach Ericeira from Lisbon.

Aside from the many surf schools and surf shops, you can also find a wide array of yoga studios in Ericeira. Some of them also combine surfing and yoga into multi-day retreats and run their own guesthouse.

Ericeira Yoga Studio was the first yoga studio in Ericeira and is located in the center of this lovely coastal town. It was created by Joana Cadete in 2013 who has studied with renowned teachers such as Sri K. Patabhi Jois.

At Ericeira Yoga Studio, you can practice many styles, from Vinyasa, Arial yoga, and Ashtanga to calmer styles like deepening Hatha yoga and Yin. A drop-in class costs € 20. 

They also offer some wellness treatments, like a variety of massages and sound healing. More advanced yogis can also take part in a yoga teacher training (in Portuguese).

Omassim

Omassim is a lovely guesthouse near Ericeira (Ribamar) that offers yoga classes and surf lessons. Yoga styles practiced here are Vinyasa in the morning and calmers styles like Restorative yoga, gentle Hatha, and Yin yoga in the evenings.

Drop-in classes are possible but at Omassim you can also book all-inclusive retreats. They are considered one of the best surf and yoga retreats in Portugal

Depending on your wishes, you can choose from different packages that focus on yoga, adventure, surfing, recharging, and relaxing. 

Aside from retreats and yoga classes they also offer a variety of other activities like massages, fire walking, and sweat lodge ceremonies. Plant-based buffets are artfully cooked with care and kindness.

Sandhi House is located in the center of Ericeira between Praia dos Pescadores and Praia do Sul, two of the main beaches in Ericeira

Sandhi House is a place where you can come home, offering yoga classes, wellness treatments, a yoga shop, and multi-day retreats.

Classes are held in a beautiful yoga shala with sea views. A drop-in class costs € 15 and you can have your pick between various styles like power Vinyasa, restorative Yin, and Hatha flow. 

Retreat packages are focused on well-being and inner balance and there’s a special self-care retreat for remote workers.

Elemental yoga/ Jivamukti Satsang Ericeira

Elemental Yoga/ Jivamukti Satsang Ericeira is located at Elemental Ericeira, a guesthouse with a huge garden and pool only 350 meters from Praia do Sul. 

Classes are Jivamukti classes, invigorating Vinyasa for beginners and advanced yogis, and Yin classes. A drop-in class costs € 15.

House of the rising Mojo

House of the Rising Mojo is a retreat center in Santo Isidoro near Ericeira. It’s not just a place to practice yoga but a holistic center that focuses on growth, exchange, and reconnecting with your own nature.

House of the Rising Mojo offers weekly yoga classes accompanied by various workshops and activities like cacao ceremonies, kirtan, and breathwork among other practices. For exact dates, it’s best to check their Instagram. 

Aside from that, they also provide practices like Reiki, sound baths, and even cooking classes.

As many of the yoga studios in Ericeira also operate as a guesthouse it is very convenient to stay at Sandhi House, Omassim, or Elemental House

  • Casa Ribamar: If you like to have a whole place to yourself then this Airbnb in Ribamar, rented out by Carina who lives in Ericeira is a great choice. The house is beautifully decorated and you can truly find anything you need in the house. The terrace is perfect to enjoy breakfast and dinner while you can watch authentic Portuguese life slowly passing by. Good for travelers who like privacy and traditional Portuguese villages. It’s also pretty close to Omassim. 
  • Ocean House: Located near Praia de Ribeira d’Ilhas this is a gorgeous guesthouse with natural colors and decorations. Its close proximity to Ribeira d’Ilhas makes it the perfect location if you are taking surf lessons there.
