I visited Porto last year and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a very vegan-friendly city. I had a great time eating my way around the city and sampling all the tasty treats on offer.
Each one of these vegan and vegetarian restaurants offers tasty, cruelty-free dishes often made with fresh ingredients sourced locally.

Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal and is renowned for its stunning architecture, relaxed atmosphere, and of course its fantastic food.
The city has a rich cultural and culinary heritage that draws tourists from all over the world each year. It’s a slightly off-beat destination in Europe as it is usually overlooked by travelers in favor of Lisbon, but it is definitely worth a visit in its own right.

Noshi Coffee is a nice place to start your day in Porto. The menu includes some vegan options, such as gluten-free toast with olives and tomatoes and vegan chocolate cake. I had a strawberry croissant which was delicious.

This is a really nice cafe to chill in if you are having a relaxed morning. There are a few different vegan options including several acai bowls. I had the mushroom toast which was delicious. The smoothies are excellent too. It’s also dog friendly so you might see some furry friends here too!

This vegan pastry shop and lunch cafe is the perfect spot to get your daily dose of plant-based goodness.
My Green Pastry uses all organic products and focuses on local and seasonal ingredients, making everything fresh in-house. Plus, they are 100% plastic-free! Try the pain au chocolat, it’s divine.

Odete is a nice little vegan bakery serving croissants, muffins, and other vegan baked goods. They also do vegan pastel de nata, which is something you absolutely must try while in Porto.

Vegan brunch in Porto
I loved Zenith! It’s a chain of restaurants across Europe but is very good. They do serve meat here but there are a lot of vegan and veggie options too.
Zenith in Porto gets quite busy and doesn’t take reservations so you might not get a table, I had to try several times before I could eat here. When I did get a table, I had the vegan shakshuka, which was one of the best shakshuka that I’ve had outside of Israel.

Another of my favourite places for brunch in Porto! Nicolau is in a great location, it’s close to a lot of Porto’s main attractions so it’s a good spot to grab a bite before doing some sightseeing. There are lots of vegan options and it’s all pretty healthy too. I had a delicious, colourful, power bowl.

I love a good buffet! DaTerra is a fully vegan all-you-can-eat buffet. The food is really good here and you can refill your plate as much as you want. There are a few different DaTerras dotted around the city but the main one is located close to Sao Bento station. You have to pay extra for vegan desserts and drinks but overall DaTerra is really good value for money.

Another vegan buffet in Porto. Suribachi is located in the back of a health food store. The food is cheap and tasty. It’s about 95% vegan food but they do also have some seafood dishes so be aware of that.

This restaurant only has a few vegan options, but the vegan pizza is exceptional so come here for that. There are also a couple of vegan pasta dishes and bruschetta.

This place has quite a lot of vegan options. The vegan pizza is really tasty and there is also a vegan sandwich with vegan mozzarella, zucchini, and sun-dried tomatoes, which was delicious. It’s a good spot to stop for lunch in Porto.

Kind kitchen is a fully vegan restaurant in Porto. It serves all kinds of food including burgers, toasties, Buddha bowls, snacks, and cakes. The nachos are really good but I loved the burger the most. The staff here were incredibly sweet, super friendly, and welcoming too.

Divan is open really late so it’s a good place to grab some fast food after a night of partying in Porto! There are options to take away or eat in. The falafel is vegan and is delicious.

I don’t usually recommend Mcdonalds but this one is special! The McDonalds in Porto is known as the most beautiful Mcdonald’s in the world. It’s located inside a gorgeous art-deco-style historic building with stained-glass windows. Even if you don’t want to eat here, you should stop by just to admire the stunning architecture.

This is a really nice vegan restaurant in Porto. It’s a good place to go for authentic Portuguese dishes made vegan. They do a vegan version of Fanceshina which I recommend you try.

This place is so much fun! It’s an all-vegan bar that serves craft beer and organic vegan food. The food is great and the venue also holds regular live music events. I recommend trying a burrito and a kombucha beer. The local port wine is also excellent.

This is a vegan grocery store that also has a little cafe in it. The cafe is excellent and serves up a number of delicious dishes including a great variety of traditional Portuguese food. The shop itself is well-stocked with plenty of vegan goodies and is a good place to get your groceries if you are staying somewhere with self-catering facilities.

This is Porto’s cat cafe. The cats here have been rescued and are up for adoption. You can come and have a cuddle with some furry friends while enjoying some coffee and vegan snacks. There is a set lunch menu that is both tasty and fully vegan.

This is the best place to go for vegan tapas in Porto! The menu changes regularly but they always have a selection of tasty vegan dishes. I recommend the vegan croquettes and the patatas bravas. They also do vegan sushi and serve vegan wine and sangria.

This is part of the Selina hostel chain but is a nice place to come for dinner even if you aren’t staying there. The restaurant is outside in a big garden/bar area. It’s got really cozy vibes. There were quite a few vegan options when I visited. I had the kofta balls which were delicious.
