At the heart of Colorful Standard’s ethos is its focus on simplicity and timeless design. They believe in creating pieces that stand the test of time, transcending trends and seasons. From their oversized t-shirts and sweatpants to their socks and biodegradable sunglasses, every item in their collection exudes effortless style and versatility while being super comfy to wear.

What sets Colorful Standard apart is their commitment to sustainability. They use only certified organic cotton and employ responsible manufacturing processes to minimize their environmental impact. The brand’s garments are crafted to the highest standards, ensuring longevity and reducing waste.
Colorful Standard also goes beyond fashion by fostering social responsibility. They founded an all-purpose activity center in Congo where children can play football, participate in activities, and have access to computers with internet.
I love Colorful Standard because they offer exactly what I love: timeless basics that are made responsibly. I can walk around in sweatpants all day, every day, and knowing that they are made with kindness to the planet in mind, fills my heart with joy.
In this section, I’ll explain why Colorful Standard is an ethical brand and why you should think about choosing them instead of cheap basics made in the fast fashion industry.
Colorful Standard takes great care in selecting materials that align with its commitment to sustainability and quality. They primarily use certified organic cotton in the production of their clothes. Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, promoting soil health and biodiversity while reducing water consumption.
In addition to organic cotton, they also have a range of accessories made from recycled merino wool. Although it’s great that they use recycled products here, it’s not vegan so these are not for me.
The Organic Cotton range however is 100% vegan and Peta-Approved!
Colorful Standard takes eco-consciousness a step further by using environmentally friendly dyes in their manufacturing process. The dyes they use are all Oeko-Tex Certified. These eco-friendly dyes are free from harmful substances, such as heavy metals and toxic chemicals, ensuring the safety of both the wearers and the environment.
By utilizing these sustainable dyes, Colorful Standard reduces their ecological footprint while still achieving a vibrant and long-lasting color palette.
Colorful Standard is deeply committed to ethical labor practices, ensuring that every aspect of its production process aligns with its values. They operate their own manufacturing center in Portugal which adheres to the high standards set by the EU.
At their factory, Colorful Standard maintains close relationships with their employees, like a family. They strive to build long-term relationships based on trust and respect instead of treating them like livestock, which unfortunately happens in a lot of factories outside of Europe.
Colorful standard Review: Organic oversized T-shirt+sweatpants
By working under the European Labour Law, the brand ensures that its workers receive fair wages, benefits, and reasonable working hours. They prohibit any form of child labor and discrimination, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
By prioritizing ethical labor practices, Colorful Standard aims to create a positive impact not only on the fashion industry but also on the lives of the individuals who contribute to their products.
Colorful Standard aims to reduce its waste to a minimum by using eco-friendly techniques in their production process.
Instead of dying the fabrics before cutting them, as regular manufacturers do, they reverse the process. They first cut and stitch the clothes from the fabric and wash them in the dye afterwards.
This technique of garment dying doesn’t only save dye and water but also means that the clothes are pre-washed before they arrive at your doorstep, ensuring that they won’t shrink in your washing machine.
Aside from that, they also use precise laser cutting techniques in their manufacturing process which results in less fabric waste than traditional techniques. The strips of fabric that still get left behind don’t go to landfills but find their purpose as furniture filling.
As I just mentioned before, Colorful Standard actively puts effort into operating as zero waste as possible by recycling their leftover strips of fabric from the manufacturing process into furniture filling.
Aside from that, they also use recycled merino wool for their accessory and knitwear range. And lastly, on top of that, they make sure their packaging is as sustainable as possible.
All their packages and labeling are made from recycled materials like recycled polyester, paper, and plastics. Furthermore, their hangtags are FSC-certified which means they are produced without any harm to forests, people, or animals.
Colorful Standard actively says no to overconsumption and impulse buying. Opposite to other brands, they don’t engage in practices to put pressure on customers with flash sales or timely offers.
They keep the pricing of their items steady throughout the year, as they do with the quality of their products.
Colorful Standard is affiliated with Ecologi. This is a company that focuses on addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability. Their main goal is to offset carbon emissions by funding reforestation and conservation projects around the world.
Ecologi allows individuals and businesses to take action against climate change by subscribing to their services. When you subscribe, Ecologi calculates your carbon footprint based on various factors such as energy usage, transportation, and lifestyle choices. They then invest your subscription funds in projects that help to remove or reduce carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
For this review, I was gifted two items by Colorful Standard, the organic oversized T-shirt in the color “snow melange” and the organic sweatpants in the color “deep black”. I’ll describe my experience with them below!
The organic oversized T-shirt in snow melange from Colorful Standard is a great piece that combines style, comfort, and sustainability. Made solely with certified organic cotton, this T-shirt showcases the brand’s commitment to using eco-friendly materials.
The relaxed fit offers a comfortable and laid-back look, perfect for everyday wear. I personally love to wear the T-shirt loose when indoors and put a little knot in it to go out.
The organic cotton fabric is exceptionally soft and breathable, which ensures a pleasant feel against the skin. It’s evident that Colorful Standard prioritizes quality, as the T-shirt is well-made with precise stitching and attention to detail.

The organic sweatpants in deep black from Colorful Standard is again a perfect blend of style, comfort, and sustainability. Crafted with organic cotton, these sweatpants offer a soft and cozy feel against the skin, making them ideal for lounging but also for going out!
I personally love this pair of sweatpants because, even though they feel like sweatpants, they offer a stylish look when combined with a purse and earrings. They are the perfect companion for any trip, whether it’s a city trip, camping trip, or multimonth backpacking journey. Their versatility allows them to be an excellent pair of pants for the capsule wardrobes of conscious travelers.
The deep black color is versatile and timeless, allowing for easy pairing with various tops and shoes. The relaxed fit and elastic waistband provide a comfortable and adjustable fit for all-day wear.
The attention to detail and quality manufacturing is evident in these sweatpants. The stitching is precise, ensuring durability and longevity, even with regular wear. The deep black color also holds up well after multiple washes.
I found the sizing a bit tricky on the website of Colorful Standard because a lot of the items are unisex and what fits well for a man doesn’t necessarily work well for a woman.
Before ordering I thoroughly measured myself and looked at the size charts to find a good size for my body type. I can happily say that the items I received fit perfectly.
I am 1,58m with a regular body type and size S fits well for me both for the T-shirts and the pants. I would normally go for M for pants but Colorful Standard clearly asks to go one size down when ordering the sweatpants and you should definitely do this, even though you think it will probably be too small!
