Traveling to Georgia shortly? Then chances are that you will want to take a trip into the Caucasus Mountains! The best place in Georgia from which to explore this extraordinary region is Kazbegi. It is recommended to stay at least a few days in Kazbegi but, if you are short on time, there are various tours that you can book online starting from Tbilisi. In this post, I’ll let you in on the best tours to Kazbegi that you can book online!
Juta, Georgia
Georgia is an incredible country lying at the intersection between Eastern Europe and Asia. It’s a place where you can still get lost as a traveler as tourism infrastructure is still not plenty and English is not widely spoken.
Georgia’s capital is Tbilisi and will likely be your starting point for exploring the stunning natural sights and impressive attractions of this unique country.
Furthermore, you can find rugged peaks in Georgia, a sunny Black Sea Coast, diverse wine regions, and archaeological wonders like the Vardzia Cave Monastery!
Kazbegi, Georgia
Kazbegi is one of the most popular places to visit in the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia. It’s located only three hours away from Kazbegi and therefore makes for an excellent one- or multiday trip.
The views in Kazbegi are dominated by Mount Kazbek, the highest mountain in Eastern Georgia. This iconic volcano is truly a sight to behold and is on many mountaineers’ and hikers’ bucket lists.
Furthermore, Kazbegi is also home to the scenic Gergety Trinity Church, which lies on a hill overlooking Stepantsminda (Kazbegi’s original name!). It’s one of the most visited places in Georgia by domestic travelers as the church is a symbol of Georgia’s orthodox religion.
Not only the area around Kazbegi town itself is utterly beautiful but you can also find hiking adventures further afield, more particularly around Juta village and the Truso Valley.
Not many travelers feel confident enough though to travel to these regions independently. That’s why, in the next sections, I’ll recommend 9 tours to Kazbegi from Tbilisi.
They are mainly geared toward travelers who want to explore Kazbegi easily and comfortably in a way that doesn’t involve too much exhaustive hiking, but still takes in a lot of beautiful natural sights!
Below, I’ll let you in on two group tours that start almost daily from Tbilisi to Kazbegi. They are in general the cheapest tours out there so it might be the best choice if you are traveling on a budget.
However, do note that these tours can get crowded and it’s possible that you will explore the mountains with 50 other tourists which might make the experience less relaxing.
This day trip to Kazbegi is organized by Gamarjoba Georgia Tours, a local tour company that offers tours to places all over Georgia. This highly rated tour is one of the best group tours to be found online and covers some amazing places in and on the road to Kazbegi.
I’ve been traveling the world, done a lot of tours and these guys are the BEST. I’ve done 4 tours with them and would definitely come back. They are very professional and fun. Gigi was an amazing guide.

It doesn’t offer a hotel pick-up but the meeting point is Rose Revolution Square in Tbilisi.
WOW!! What a magical experience. The entire tour from start to finish was amazing, even more so when your guide was funny and had a good sense of humor. Irakli, our guide, really made the trip special with the small details here and there. Despite that, the tour is worth every penny, you HAVE to take this tour and experience everything for yourself because words just cannot explain the beauty that lies within this tour! So that being said… Enjoy 😀

The tour was very well organised and managed. The services were excellent. The expectation were very well justified. We were treated very homely during the course of our tour and enjoyed every bit of it. We highly recommend the tour operator, their hospitality, and their services. We enjoyed our stay and the tour. Cheers!

If you want to see Kazbegi on a group tour covering various locations in Georgia, Intrepid Travel is a reputable tour company that comes in highly recommended. They offer various slow travel and responsible group tours to Georgia, sometimes combined with locations in Turkey and/or Armenia.
Lastly, here are the best tours to Kazbegi, lasting for multiple days while enjoying the comfort of your private transport. On these tours, you are able to explore the region around Kazbegi more extensively including locations like Mtskheta and the incredible Juta Valley!

After spending the night in a 4-star hotel in Kazbegi, you will be taken to the Gveleti waterfalls and end your trip with a hike in Juta, one of the most impressive valleys in the region. After the hike, you will be taken back to Tbilisi in your private vehicle.

This tour was amazing and Matsu was a great guide. We started from Tbilisi and we made a few stops on our way to Kazbegi. We visited the dam, two monasteries, and some monuments. Matsu was informative and gave me a good idea about each place. He talked about the history and the importance of the places. We stayed in a nice hotel in Kazbegi and I got my own room ( breakfast and dinner included ) Next morning we started hiking. The hiking place was unbelievably green, with fresh air, ice, birds, rivers, and a lot of lovely things. We took about 3 hours in hiking . We had all we need in the car ( Matsu brought drinks fresh fruits and snacks ) Take my words: If you want to see the real beauty of Georgia take this tour. and If you want a well-organized tour to enjoy every moment, GO WITH MATSU he is not just a professional tour guide but he is a friend who looks after you all the time.

On the next day, after spending the night in Kazbegi or Juta, you will be taken to the amazing natural scenery of the Juta Valley for a three-hour hike. After that, your private car will take you back to Tbilisi an drop you off at an accommodation of your choice.
This 3-day tour is the top choice for travelers who like to hike but with the comfort of a personal guide to make sure that everything runs smoothly and safely. On day one, you will travel along the Georgian Military Highway making a stop at the Anunari Fortress before driving to Juta for an 8-kilometer hike to the Chaukhi Pass.
We had an amazing three-day Kazbegi adventure with Trek Georgia. The entire process was very good: our tour manager Dito took care of us from initial inquiries to managing our custom requests and then guiding us through some beautiful regions. He listened well and was responsive to our needs in the moment and to changing weather conditions; we didn’t miss a beat along the way. The team is clearly very experienced and can work with groups of any skill level. (We’re intermediate and fit.) I would happily travel with Trek Georgia again.
