Best Thrift Stores and Second Hand Shops Berlin

Do you like to shop for second-hand clothing? Then Berlin is the perfect place to go! Berlin is a paradise for conscious travelers who like to buy sustainably. Yes, minimalism is the way to go, especially if you’re traveling, but you need clothes, right? Aside from all the great flea markets you can find in Berlin during the weekends, there is also an amazing thrift store and vintage shop scene in Berlin. It’s actually the best second-hand shopping scene I’ve ever seen in any city. Whether you’re looking for cheap finds or unique designer pieces, there’s a second-hand shop that will sell them. These are my top 5 vintage stores and second-hand shops in Berlin!

Picknweight

Second-hand shops Berlin: Picknweight kilostore Mitte

If you only have the time to visit one second-hand shop in Berlin, Picknweight should be it! For me, as a die-hard thrifter and vintage lover, it was heaven. Here you can find vintage boots out of the seventies for € 6 ($ 7,10), beautiful handbags for € 2 ($ 2,37), and a bunch of clothing and other stuff they sell by the kilo.

They have 5 outlets in Berlin with the one on Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg being my favorite. You got three outlets in Mitte, the city center, but, although they are also cool to visit, I had the feeling prices were slightly higher here.

So I would suggest picking the one in Kreuzberg or the one called “Garage” in Schoneberg. The setup and atmosphere at all the outlets are great, with some old rock classics playing in the background.

U-bahn or S-bahn stops: U1, U2, U3, U4 Nollendorfplatz (Garage Schöneberg), U8 Weinmeisterstraße ( 3 stores in Mitte) and U7 Gneisenausstraße (Picknweight Kreuzberg)

Humana

Thrift stores in Berlin Humana

Second-hand shops Berlin: Humana Mitte

Humana is a real thrift shop where prices are low and clothing is looking rather random, which makes it really fun when you stumble upon a great find for only € 2. You can find Humana at multiple locations throughout Berlin and the concept is always the same: a huge array of woman’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories sorted by color.

You can easily spend a few hours browsing through all the items because most of the outlets are gigantic. Humana is very focused on the green character of buying preloved items. All the clothes have tags on them telling how buying a certain item impacts the environment in a positive way.

Even better, Humana is a part of a larger organization called Humana People to People. The money you spend here goes straight to development projects around the world improving the lives of millions of people in Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

Paul's Boutique

Thrift stores and vintage shops in Berlin: Paul's Boutique, Berlin, Germany.

Second-hand shops Berlin: Repeater store Neukölln

Paul’s Boutique actually consists out of four second-hand shops you can find across Berlin. When I first entered Paul’s Boutique at the Oderbergerstraße it felt like being fifteen years old again, remembering the days when I just started to hang out in skateparks, had a non-secret crush on Kurt Cobain, and frequented a vintage shop for the first time.

Vintage Adidas vests, Converse shoes, and Carhartt jackets are some of the items they sell in these chaotic but beautiful nostalgically decorated shops.

Chewbacca and E.T. will surely be there to keep an eye on what you buy. The shop at Torstraße also serves as a guitar repair shop and the outlet Goo has a focus on designer brands (Chanel, Dior,…) only. Paul’s Boutique vintage shops in Berlin definitely stole my heart!

Allet Schick

Best thrift stores and vintage shops in Berlin: Allet Schick, Berlin, Germany.

Second-hand shops Berlin: Allet Schick store Kreuzberg

Allet Schick is a cozy vintage and second-hand shop in Kreuzberg owned by a friendly lady called Kerstin. Her three-floor shop breathes vintage and you can find vintage fashion here for women and for men, accessories like belts, scarves, and jewelry, and also some home decor accessories like paintings from Berlin artist Jonny B. Good.

Aside from selling beautiful second-hand clothing she also rents out pieces. If you’re traveling to Berlin and need to attend a party there’s no need to drag a party dress in your suitcase that you will only wear once during your trip. Just let Kerstin dress you up for the occasion! It will be very chic.

Sing Blackbird

Best thrift stores and vintage shops in Berlin: Sing Blackbird, Berlin, Germany.

Second-hand shops Berlin: Sing Blackbird store Neukölln

Sing Blackbird is a second-hand shop in the Neukölln district. The name tag on the front says it’s vintage coffee and clothes which initially drew my attention but unfortunately the coffee part of the shop is gone. Due to gentrification and a lot of other coffee shops popping up in the neighborhood over the years they decided to focus entirely on clothing and they have been doing that quite well.

When you enter this shop you do not feel in a second-hand shop at all though. The spaces are bright and clean with a minimalistic feel and the clothes are not crammed together on the racks (like often in vintage or thrift shops) but are easy to browse which is great. You can find a mix of vintage and second-hand here, with most items dating back to the nineties and nillies and a focus on designer pieces. Shoes are also for sale.
